RMVC – live on Radio CWR – UPDATE

Rugby Male Voice Choir appeared on Radio Coventry and Warwickshire from Monday to Friday during week commencing 20th January – they were on the Vic Minett show appearing around 12.10pm each day.

5 members from the choir spoke to Vic about how they got involved in the choir and what the choir means to them. They also be partook in a general knowledge quiz called snake escape – based on the game of snakes and ladders.

Leading the pack was our chairman David Mayes – who spoke about the choir and the open evening being held that evening – he did valiantly on the quiz but unfortunately got a question wrong which meant he finished on 3 points.

On Tuesday – our second tenor Fred Welsby took up the mantle – despite some telephone line issues he did valiantly but was stumped by a couple of questions to finish on 1 point

On Wednesday it was the turn of our choir accompanist Ian Birkin – who spoke about how much the choir means to him. Ian did well on the quiz getting all 12 questions right but “banked” early leaving him with a score of 8 points.

On Thursday our baritone Mike Iredale took up the microphone where he was interviewed about his interest in the choir, Mike did well in the quiz but was stumped on music question about Taylor Swift – to be honest I don’t think anyone in the choir would have got it. So Mike finished with 1 point despite a valiant attempt.

Finally – the boss – our musical director Christine Welham finished the week off. She spoke about her role in the choir and about what being a musical director entails. Christine led from the front in the quiz and “banked” on 9 points – leaving her as the winner for week. Well done Christine.

All in all it was great fun so thanks to everyone in the choir who took part – it really raised the profile of the choir in the local area and hopefully can help encourage more people to join us
